The tour will depart from the famous Ramblas Sta. Monica at the Arc del Teatre, before heading down to Placa Reial and Baixada de la Llibreteria. As you walk through the locations, you are sure to recall ‘the abandoned corpse of a palace, a museum of echoes and shadows’, also known as The Cemetery of Forgotten Books. Retrace the footsteps of Daniel and Fermín, the protagonists of the book, and relive their journey to find the mysterious Julian Carax and his books.
Merging the worlds of fiction and reality, continue down the Carrer de Argenteria towards the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Mar and Carrer Montcada, where you’ll come across the Asylum of Santa Llucia and El Xampanyet. Visit the location of Daniel’s father’s bookshop, Sempere and Sons in the Carrer Santa Anna before heading along the Carrer Canuda to the old library of Ateneu Barcelonès.
The tour finishes at Palau de la Música Catalana (Metro L4 Jaume I), after which you can continue sightseeing your way through Barcelona at your own pace.
